Acreage Report June 2026
The official figures for Germany’s 2026 hop acreage are out: at a total of 17,861 ha, the area is around 5.8 % below 2025. Since 2024, German hop acreage has shrunk by some 2,428 ha or 12.0 %. The Lupex Acreage Report May 2026 breaks down the development variety by variety and across all German growing regions.
The Hallertau remains by far Germany’s largest growing region – but the contraction continues there as well. At 14,765 ha, the area is down 915 ha vs. 2025 (−5.8 %). The steepest declines were recorded once again for Perle (−294 ha), Hallertauer Tradition (−279 ha), Herkules (−170 ha) and Hallertauer Magnum (−151 ha).
Against the trend, several varieties gained ground. Titan led the way (+140 ha) and has now expanded by more than 360 ha over two years. Spalter Select (+32 ha), Tango (+23 ha) and Saphir (+15 ha) also added some acreage.
Among Germany’s other growing regions, Elbe-Saale (−166 ha), Spalt (−10 ha) and Tettnang (−8 ha) saw slight declines; Bitburg remains virtually unchanged at 15 ha.
How the smaller area will translate into yields will depend significantly on the weather in the coming months. We’ll keep you posted.
